Three hours, one theme, a full meal at the end. Pasta, curry, roast, bread or a seasonal menu.

Since 2018 · Bath
Classes for beginners, couples and friends: bread, fresh pasta, curries, seasonal suppers and the basics nobody taught you at school.
Our classes are practical. After a short demonstration you head to your station, where the ingredients are laid out and a teacher is never more than a few steps away.
We teach technique as well as recipes: how to season, how to taste, how to rescue a split sauce. Once you know those, a recipe is just a suggestion.

We teach why things work. Once you know how to brown, season and balance, you can improvise.
No more than twelve per class, so each cook gets proper attention and nobody's stuck waiting for the one working stove.
Every class ends at the table. It's the best part, and the quickest way to see what worked.
We buy from nearby growers and bakers whenever we can, and the menus follow what's ripe.
People often ask why our bread classes take four hours when a recipe says forty minutes. The answer is rising. Dough does most of the work while you drink tea.
When strawberries and cherries are at their best, we run the preserving workshops. Jam is simple in principle and fussy in practice.
Many students tell us they stopped cooking when they started living alone. Recipes serve four, leftovers pile up and the effort seems pointless.
Our door is on Chapel Yard in Bath; there's usually a bike or two leaning outside.
